Hey William, Good idea, our team will definitely look into this for the next menu update in 2019! Thanks for the heads up! Best Regards, - J’s Web Admin Team
Extremely slow, although friendly service. Chincy cheesesteak and watered down milkshake.
Great service friendly staff overall great experience. I will definitely be coming back
Food was not great. Service was much worse. If you have an open kitchen, you'd think you would make sure your employees have taken courses on sanitation. Rules were clearly being broken. Will never go again!
Good cheese steakes n hotdogs
Similar to most of the reviews here, I had a terrible experience. There were 4 employees working and it took them over 30 minutes to prepare 2 cheese steaks with no line in the restaurant. The reviews warned me about the unsanitary practices and they were CORRECT. No hair nets worn by the cook and one employee was touching everything (including his phone and armpits) while wearing prep gloves - Never changed those gloves. I'm unsure why I still ate the cheese steak... no surprise, it was easily the worst I've ever had in my life. I wasn't sure if I was eating steak or the brown paper bag it came in.
It was delicious and customer service was great. Food came out fast and hot
I visited J's Steaks and Subs on Hamilton Street today. The food wasn't bad but two of the employees were eating behind the food line with gloves on. The male employee kept rubbing his hat, face and arms with the gloves on. Then he pulled out his cell phone with his gloves on. After seeing this I wasn't able to finish my meal. I will not be returning due to the unsanitary conditions.I will go to Carl's Corner in Bethlehem.
Food is good when the order is made correctly. Just be ready to wait a while to get it as well
I just orderd a cheesesteak or should i say just steak because i didnt get the extra cheese i order i had more ketchup then cheese no onions at all and when i walked in i had to tippy toe to the register and their wasnt a cautions sign and i tip them thanks god i only tip 2 dollars
Nice employees, great food, very filling and clean environment. I plan on going back soon!
Ordering is quick, food is fresh and served hot! The staff is beyond courteous, they are friendly and helpful! Everyone seems to be cross--trained, they are multi-taskers. Nobody beats J's cheesesteaks, not even Philly (I've had plenty for comparison)! I hope they eventually sell branded merchandise so I can display my adopted hometown pride!
The person making my food was on her cellphone the whole time touching her gloves hands on the cellphone while making my food. When I got the food the bread was stale and the hoagie was NOT the same as it is in Northampton. This location has disappointed me twice.
No Stars - Horrible!!! Staff runs that place. Management doesn't. Looking forward to a Jay's Steak. Walked in. I just saw too much before I even ordered my food. Walked Out. If nonsense by employees is going on what the heck are they doing to the food. No Thank You.
For the price I expect a better sandwich.
I have not been to J's for a long time. So glad the food is still delicious!!
Food was ok could be better.
Great food, quick service. Lehigh Valley staple.
This is not the J's steak we have grown to love and respect from quality ingredients and hospitality services. Sad to say it a pale resemblance of what use to be and what type of meat are they substituting for steak or beef! Is it really a meat product or what is the question? Stay away is my recommendation!
My wife were excited to see that J's steaks was making a comeback. I grew up across the street from J's at 15th and Turner. Sadly, our experience was terrible. We ordered a large cheese steak sauce on the side , and a tuna hogie to go. There were 3 people in the shop when we arrived shortly before 1pm. That should have been a sign. Despite the low volume it took over 20 minutes to get our sandwiches. Prior to leaving I check my order and they forgot the sauce. Both sandwiches were terrible. What a waste of time and money.....
The food was totally amazing, great service. I would totally recommend this place for lunch and evening meals. The menues are reasonable. 😊😊
I haven't been to a J's since childhood, and didn't know they still existed until passing here on break. I got there 5-10 minutes before closing, and they had the doors locked. I took a picture of the hours for emphasis on this point, with them staring at me as they counted register. My experience with customer service is that you wait UNTIL scheduled hours to close, not try to BE OUT at that time. Then again, considering most reviews complain about 30+ minutes for their food, I suppose it gives them a reason to not take orders after 8:30. *Shots Fired*
Pretty much a former staple in Allentown area glad to see them back. Best cheese steaks and fries in the Valley but lunch " special" needs to be brought down in price
First time eating at J’s & it was literally the best cheesesteaks we’ve ever had!
I went there for the first time yesterday and now I'm gonna go there from now on the food was amazing and they were so nice to me and my son well done
Monday lunch, no lettuce for sandwiches, rolls were not fresh. Staff friendly but need training. Slow service.
Brings back childhood memories , cheese steak was awesome , they even made pierogies where well done like I asked , staff was super friendly and takes pride in there food and service
You can't go wrong here for cheese steaks!!!
My family ordered from the new J's on Hamilton st. Allentown through Uber Eats. It turned out to be a big mistake. I gave them the benefit of the doubt from the bad reviews I've read. Turns out, the bad reviews were correct. I ordered 1 large cheeseburger sub which was a messy prepared sandwich that had slightly brown lettuce and a musty/moldy taste, which could've been the onions or tomatoes sitting around in stagnant water. That went straight in the garbage. I also ordered 2 regular cheese steaks, which turned out to be fine because they were ordered without pickles and onions. We also had 3 orders of fries which showed up cold, soft and mushy and the color of them were brown, almost like they soaked them in old used oil for awhile, they were bad. This definitely is the first and last time ordering from this place. We'll stick to the Northampton J's or Bethlehem J's...
For our first trip, seeing the gentlemen in the back adjust his pants, touch his armpits and text on his phone while handling the food almost put me over the edge. However, waiting the 30 minutes with 4 customers orders in was the final straw. You need to either hire employees with food safety knowledge or train them. I was not the only customer talking about this today and prior reviews also indicate this behavior!
For a fairly new place, and it being my first time there..they made a bad first impression.will not be going back
Every time i get a pay check i always order something here
It was clean and a bit to quite..the food was just ok..my husband seem to like it more than me
Love their hoagies! Been going here since I was a kid.
Best place in the valley for steak sandwiches!
Again another steak shop that is very slow. If service does not get any faster I don't see it lasting. It should not take 35 min to get your food when the meat is already cooked and our fries were cold! Most people only have a 30 min lunch break so taking that plus to get your food is not a good stop for us. The people in front of us waited 40 min for their food.
Very very nice menu
Great for the price. I hate being asked if I want to tip the counter people before my food is made, though, as it asks when you pay with credit card. The employer is essentially subsidizing workers wages on the expectation of tips. It just irks me.
Never again will I go to this establishment!!!! 2 months ago I decided to try it, I've always loved J's I go around 730pm and the doors are locked... I decided to give them one more chance I go tonight and the same thing 730pm and the doors are locked and the place is dark. Never again and what makes it worst is there is a game tonight at the arena. You would think the want to stay open and make some money but I guess that is not their moto. I hope one day they will get a good cheese steak place on Hamilton st because the way this j's is going they won't be open for long!!!
Visited J’s On Hamilton St in Allentown last night. I’ve enjoyed J’s in Bethlehem for over 25 years and the service and food was great. So when I heard there was a location now in Allentown I knew I had to go.We got 4 steak breaks. One of them was supposed to be a California Cheesesteak. California cheesesteak- barely any cheese or onions. They didn’t add the lettuce tomato or mayo on it. Instead they put it in mini containers and you build it yourself. What’s that about? They gave us less than an ounce of lettuce and 2 slices tomatoes. If you want to call it that. They were so thin and falling apart from being soggy. All other cheesesteaks barely had any cheese, no taste of onion, and mediocre bun integrity. Fries- all fries were greasy and soggy. Cheese sauce was ok but how can you mess that up? Overall we paid about $45 and it was an absolute waste. Bad bad bad!
While their food is good, so many they are closed before their time. They are suppose to close at 6pm but yet I have went to buy food from several times and they are closed at 4pm or 5pm. This is getting so annoying. Stay open till the time you are suppose too.
